The Hartford Indians of the Eastern League became the Hartford Wooden Nutmegs in 1901. They folded on September 10, two weeks before the EL completed its schedule. The Hartford, CT team was managed by 3B Billy Shindle (.283, 70 R) and finished fourth at 58-56. SS-OF George Shoch hit .317 to lead the team while Jim Gardner (11-7) had the best record. George Hemming (12-11) led the loop with five shutouts.
