[edit] Biographical Information
Harry Gordon Cheek was long confused with another Harry Cheek (1879-1956), who although also born in Missouri in 1879, never played baseball. The ball-playing Harry Cheek was born in Kansas City, MO but his family had moved to Colorado by the time of the 1880 US Census. He lived in Seattle, WA during his teens and worked in a shipyard there, before his two-game career as a catcher with the 1910 Philadelphia Phillies.
Cheek played in the minors from 1903-16 and also in 1923. Although he was 44 when he played in 1923, he was not a player-manager.
Some fans put him on the "All Body Parts Team", with Barry Foote, Rollie Fingers, Roy Face, Ricky Bones, Dave Brain, and Ed Head.
