[edit] Biographical Information

Harry "Deer Foot" Bay, who played eight years from 1901-08 in the majors, led the league twice in stolen bases and in 1905 was third in batting with a .301 average.

After baseball he was secretary of the Peoria Fire Department and a state auto license examiner.

Bay started in the majors in 1901 with the 1901 Cincinnati Reds, where he was a teammate of Harry Steinfeldt. Both were 23 years old. Bay jumped to Cleveland in 1902 and spent the rest of his major league career there. He was a teammate of Nap Lajoie and Elmer Flick there.

In 1909 a baseball card appeared of him playing with Nashville.

In 1912 he managed at Bloomington and in 1913 he managed at Madison.

Bay weighed only 138 lbs. and pictures of him show a very slender face.
