Harry Armbruster played one year in the majors, serving as the most frequently utilized back-up player on Connie Mack's 1906 Philadelphia Athletics. Harry had an impressive .353 on-base percentage, one of the highest on a team which had an overall .308 OBP. Harry was the fourth outfielder, getting into 40 games in center field and 34 in right.
After the 1906 season he was let go to Toledo, where he played two seasons. He then played a year for St. Paul (it was news when he stole four bases one day) and two for Syracuse.
'Harry Armbruster, of Syracuse . . . hit the bull sign twice in one game. Each time he was presented with a check for $50." - Sporting Life, June 25, 1910, which also showed him with the highest batting average on the Syracuse team
He is not listed as a relative of Charlie Armbruster, who played in the majors during 1905-07. Oddly, these two, who are the only major leaguers through 2010 who have had the name Armbruster, both were from Ohio, both played in the American League and both played in 1906.
