"Both (Lyons and Jack Doyle) played yesterday, and their work was of a very brilliant character . . . Lyons in centre covered plenty of ground, and at the bat he inspired the onlookers with confidence." - from the New York Times, June 25, 1892, commenting on a game in which Lyons batted third in front of clean-up hitter Buck Ewing
Harry Lyons played six seasons in the majors, most notably leading the 1890 American Association in at-bats. He also appeared in post-season play in 1887 and 1888.
Pat Powers was his manager both at Rochester in 1890 and at New York in 1892.
