Hannibal is located in northeastern Missouri, on the Mississippi river, across from the state of Iowa, 100 miles northwest of St. Louis, MO. It is best known as the hometown of writer Mark Twain; it is also the fictional hometown of Joe Hardy, the slugging hero of Damn Yankees.
