Hank Simon mainly played one season in the major leagues, in 1890 when he was among the league leaders in total bases. He also appeared in 3 games in 1887.

He played for a top amateur team in Utica, NY in 1884, along with Mike Griffin and Dave McKeough. Utica, NY is about 30 miles from his birthplace of Hawkinsville, NY. He also played for Utica in 1885 and then many years later in 1898-1900.

In 1890, he started the season with the 1890 Brooklyn Gladiators, where he was one of the better players. He hit .257 and slugged .362 on a team that hit .221 and slugged .293. He ended the season playing 38 games for the 1890 Syracuse Stars in excellent fashion, hitting .301 and slugging .410. It was the end of his major league career. In the following season, neither Brooklyn nor Syracuse were in the American Association.

He also played for other New York based teams, including Elmira, Troy, and Rochester over the years.
