Hank Schenz debuted in the minors in 1939. He missed the 1943-1945 seasons due to military service. Schenz played six seasons in the major leagues, getting more than half his at-bats with the Chicago Cubs in 1948. He finished out his major league career with an appearance in the 1951 World Series while on the New York Giants as a teammate of the rookie Willie Mays. Schenz apparently used a telescope while with the Cubs to spy on signals from opposing teams. signals.
After his major league days he played for the Oakland Oaks and the Sacramento Solons of the Pacific Coast League. See baseball card of Hank Schenz. In his last season of play, 1955, he became manager of the Tulsa Oilers for the second half of the season.
