Hank Schenz debuted in the minors in 1939. He missed the 1943-1945 seasons due to military service. Schenz played six seasons in the major leagues, getting more than half his at-bats with the 1948 Cubs. He finished out his major league career with an appearance in the 1951 World Series while on the 1951 Giants as a teammate of the rookie Willie Mays. Schenz apparently used a telescope while with the Cubs to spy on signals from opposing teams. signals.
