Hamilton, Ohio is located about 30 miles north of Cincinnati, OH and about 12 miles from Oxford, OH (home of Miami University). Hamilton has a rich baseball history and has seen numerous professional ballplayers emerge from the small city including Joe Nuxhall, Ricky Stone, Jim Tracy, Pat Tabler, Jimmy Wynn, Dan Meyer, Mark Lewis and Jim Lyttle.
Joe Nuxhall remained a prominent figure in Hamilton until his death in 2007, often championing social causes. Perhaps the first professional ball player to come from Hamilton was Elmer Horton who pitched three major league games over 1896 and 1898.
Hamilton has seen its Little League teams play in the 1991 and 2007 Little League World Series. Hamilton High School has also seen success on the baseball diamond and has seen numerous players drafted. Mark Lewis appeared on the front of his 1989 Topps baseball card wearing his Hamilton High uniform. Stephen T. Badin High School has also produced at least one major leaguer.
