[edit] Biographical Information

A journeyman catcher with the Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, and Cincinnati Reds in the 1960's and 1970's, the lefthanded hitting King joined the Reds in mid-1973. He hit three pinch-hit home runs down the stretch including a grand slam on July 9 vs. the Montreal Expos and a 10th inning game winner vs. the New York Mets on August 17, propelling the Reds to the Western Division Pennant.

His brother, Nathaniel King was a first baseman in the Minnesota Twins chain.
