[edit] Biographical Information

James "Hack" Miller was in the majors in 1944-45 with the Detroit Tigers. Since the 1945 Tigers went on to win the 1945 World Series, he gets some credit for the championship.

He is not to be confused with another player, Laurence "Hack" Miller, who played earlier in the majors.

This Hack Miller was at the University of North Texas and Southeastern Oklahoma State University during 1932-36, and also played minor league ball in 1935 with Longview. After his college days he played more pro ball with Longview as well as Lubbock, Meridian and other teams, mostly in the South.

He also did some pitching, going 10-4 for Tyler in 1947 and 5-2 the following year for Tyler.

He also managed a number of minor league teams in Texas.
