Gus Milner reached AAA briefly.
Milner hit .366 as a sophomore in junior college, winning All-Conference honors. He transferred to Kansas and hit .298/.380/.516 as a junior. The Cleveland Indians took him in the 47th round of the 2005 amateur draft. His batting line as a returning senior at Kansas was .328/.395/.521 and he drove in 57 in 65 games. He was named second-team All-Big 12 Conference. The Philadelphia Phillies chose him in the 14th round of the 2006 amateur draft and signed him.
Sent to the Batavia Muckdogs in the summer of 2006, Milner put up a .261/.335/.390 line. Moving up to the Lakewood BlueClaws in '07, Gus hit .286/.371/.428 with 63 walks, 19 steals in 28 tries, 29 doubles and 71 runs. He batted .261/.343/.372 for the 2008 Clearwater Threshers and scored 74 runs while going 22-for-31 in steal attempts. He led Florida State League outfielders with 7 double plays and tied Chris Heisey for the most assists (14).
In 2009, Milner struggled with the Reading Phillies (.226/.292/.315 in 85 G) and the Threshers (.239/.280/.339 in 29 G) but was 3 for 8 with two doubles and four RBI in his two games with the AAA Lehigh Valley IronPigs. He was let go by the Phils in spring training the next year.
