A cousin of German Barranca, Guillermo Barranca pitched four seasons in the minors. He debuted with the 1970 Kinston Eagles, going 7-6 with a 2.28 ERA. Had he qualified (he was 6 innings short), he would have ranked 4th in the Carolina League in ERA.
Barranca moved to the Tampico Lightermen in 1971 and was 2-1 with a 1.89 ERA in 9 games (3 starts). He had a 7-8, 3.88 record for Tampico in 1972 and 2-5, 4.70 in 1973 to end his career.
