[edit] Biographical Information
Catcher Grover Hartley was a Cleveland Indians coach from 1928 to 1930, also making a handful of appearances behind the plate for the club during that time. He spent 1931 to 1933 on the Pittsburgh Pirates staff and 1934 to 1936 with the St. Louis Browns, with whom he played in his final big league game in 1934. He later was a member of the 1946 New York Giants coaching staff.
Hartley's short stint with the Browns in 1934 earned him the honor of being the last Federal League player to be active in the Major Leagues.
