[edit] Biographical Information
Greg Sparks was drafted in the 12th round of the January 1983 amateur draft by the California Angels and in the 5th round of the January 1984 amateur draft by the San Diego Padres. He played in the Padres, Oakland A's, the Co-op Salinas Spurs, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians, Colorado Rockies, and Atlanta Braves organizations through 1995 (7 of the last 8 seasons bouncing around AA).
He became a coach in the Oakland A's organization in 1997 with the Visalia Oaks. He turned to managing in 1998.
Greg is the son of longtime minor league manager Joe Sparks [1].
