Gil Blanco was signed in 1964, pitched for the New York Yankees in 1965, was traded to the Kansas City Athletics, and pitched for them in 1966. He was finished in the majors before his 21st birthday.
He is the first of six players (as of July 2007) with the last name Blanco.
According to the Time Magazine issue of June 4, 1965, Blanco pitched his first seven innings with the Yanks in relief and gave up no runs. At 6' 5", Time called him a "strapping bonus baby".
