German Jimenez pitched for the last-place Mexican team in the 1980 Amateur World Series. He was signed out of the Mexican League by the 1988 Braves who were desperate for any kind of pitching help. He managed to go 1-6 with a 5.01 ERA. His lone win coming on July 24, 1988 against the New York Mets. He pitched 5 innings giving up 4 hits, 1 earned run, no walks an striking out 3.

He also pitched for Greenville in 1989, going 11-7.

Jimenez had two brothers who pitched in the Mexican League, Isaac Jimenez and Saul Jimenez. As of 2010, German Jimenez was the only major leaguer from the Mexican state of Nayarit.
