[edit] Biographical Information

Outfielder George Staller led the 1938 Middle Atlantic League with 43 stolen bases. He won the 1939 Eastern League batting title at .336, leading the league with 49 2B also. The next year he led the International League with 40 2B and 12 3B, and in 1943 led the IL with 98 RBI for the Baltimore Orioles (IL). He would later have a longtime association with the Baltimore Orioles of the AL. His playing career lasted from 1937 until 1952, with very limited appearances after.

Staller began his career as a manager with the 1948 Portsmouth A's, the Philadelphia A's affiliate in the Ohio-Indiana League. He managed for the A's through 1953. Leaving the A's, Staller managed for the Orioles through 1961.

Staller also coached for the Orioles in 1962, scouted for them in 1963-1968, and coached again from 1969-1975.
