 Biographical Information
"A hard hitter and classy fielder, George Perring was a product of the prairie school of baseball, developing his sure shot to first base by throwing green crabapples through the knothole in a barn door." - from the Beloit College website
George Perring was in the major leagues from 1908-10 with the Cleveland Naps, then played for Columbus from 1910-13 and came back to the majors with the Kansas City Packers of the Federal League in 1914-15. He was still playing professionally as late as 1919.
Perring had been at Beloit College in 1905 and played in the minors with Omaha in 1906.
Perring mostly played third base but in 1908 played more shortstop than third. He was playing shortstop when Addie Joss threw a perfect game.
The Beloit College website states that Perring played and managed semi-pro ball after his professional days, was a top golfer, and worked as an insurance underwriter.
