George Ferrell was the older brother of major leaguers Rick Ferrell and Wes Ferrell and minor leaguer Marvin Ferrell. He was a minor league outfielder from 1926 to 1945. Ferrell led the 1926 Cotton States League with 35 2B and 20 HR. He led the 1935 Piedmont League with a .377 BA and the same loop in 1939 with 129 RBI. He led the 1941 Bi-State League with 41 2B and 114 RBI, and led the league with 105 RBI in 1942.
Ferrell scouted for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1946 and 1952 to 1957, then for the Detroit Tigers from 1958 to 1970.
