New jersey native George Armstrong spent nine seasons in profesional baseball from 1943 to 1951.
This showing earned him his first and only time in the major leagues, debuting with the Philadelphia Athletics on April 26, 1946. George appeared in eight games, picked up one hit in six at-bats, ending his big league time on June 23, 1946, with a .167 average.
He finished up his minor league career, at 27 years of age, with the 1951 York White Roses, again in the Interstate League, hitting .311 but appeared in only 12 games. Armstrong appeared in 640 games during his nine year minor league run, hitting at a .272 clip with 25 home runs.
