[edit] Biographical Information

George Jumonville played in the infield for 17 games for the 1940 and 1941 Philadelphia Phillies and eight years in the minor leagues. He then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II (BN), never returning to baseball. He spent many years in the grocery and produce business, retiring from Fruit Distributing/Sysco in 1985. He died in a nursing home at age 79 and is buried at Magnolia Cemetery in Mobile, AL.

His minor league career ran from 1936-43, with a good year in 1940 when he hit .332 in the Canadian-American League. During his last year in the minors he also pitched 26.3 innings.
