Gene Hasson came to the majors at a young age and was an above-average hitter for both his major league seasons.
He played for the Williamsport Grays in 1936-37. He was with Montreal in 1939-40.
In 1946 and 1947 he managed the Portsmouth Cubs. In 1948 he won the Triple Crown while player-manager at Pittsfield in the Canadian-American League.
A Wikipedia article claims he hit a home run in his first major league at-bat.
He served in the U.S. Army.
