[edit] Biographical Information
A surprise about Gene DeMontreville is that similarity scores through 2006 shows one of the most similar players as a current player, David Eckstein. Both were infielders, both had adequate but not great hitting stats, both could steal a base. Eckstein is short by modern standards while DeMontreville stood 5 ft. 8 in.
He spent part of 1899 with the 1899 Baltimore Orioles, the first team that John McGraw managed.
At the time of his death he was concession manager of the Mid-South Fairgrounds in Memphis.
