Gary Ward is the father of Daryle Ward. Another son, Agee Ward, was a forward on the Fullerton State basketball team from 1988-1989 to 1991-1992.
Ward hit for a cycle in his 14th major league game, the quickest player to achieve the feat. He accomplished it on September 18, 1980.
Ward was the hitting coach for the Charlotte Knights from 1999 to May of 2001, before being promoted to the Chicago White Sox staff. He returned to Charlotte in 2009-2010.
Kevin Brown, Rickey Henderson, and Pete Incaviglia played with both Gary and Daryle Ward.
