Joseph Gary Ruby

 Biographical Information
Gary Ruby has been a minor league player and coach.
Ruby was picked by the Cleveland Indians in the 22nd round of the 1969 amateur draft. Gary pitched six games in the Indians chain in 1969, going 0-3 with a 4.50 ERA. In 1970, the southpaw was 4-5 with a save and a 5.78 ERA for the Sumter Indians. He allowed 94 hits and 46 walks in 67 innings. The next year, he allowed 7 runs in 2 innings for the Reno Silver Sox but was 1-0 to end his pitching career.
Ruby began his coaching career with the California Angels chain, working there from 1987-1995 starting with the Quad City Angels in 1987. He made stops with the Midland Angels, Edmonton Trappers, and Vancouver Canadians. From 1996-1997, he was with the Buffalo Bisons. He spent 1998-2001 in the Philadelphia Phillies organization, including a year and half as the club's director of player personnel. From 2002-2006, he was the minor league pitching coordinator for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He moved to the Houston Astros's Salem Avalanche affiliate as pitching coach in 2007-2008. In 2009-2011, he was pitching coach for the Tri-City ValleyCats. He moved to the Corpus Christi Hooks in 2012-2014.
