Infielder Gary Pellant was the second player in organized baseball to hit a home run from each side of the plate in the same inning while playing for the 1979 Alexandria Mariners; Ellis Burton had accomplished the feat in 1961.
Since retiring as a player, Pellant has been a long-time manager and scout in the Chicago White Sox organization. He managed the 1984-1985 Bellingham Mariners and 1999 Bristol White Sox.
