First baseman Gary Johnson played minor league ball from 1958 to 1967, almost entirely in the Chicago White Sox chain. He spent 1962 with the independent Tri-City Braves and led the Northwest League with a .341 average. In his last season he led the 1967 Southern League with 29 doubles. Johnson spent about the equivalent of two seasons in AAA spread over the 1964-1966 seasons, but never made the majors.
