Third baseman Gary Cooper appeared in nine games with the 1991 Astros, posting a .368 on-base percentage. In the minors during the four year period 1992-95, he did even better, with a .378 OBP (and a .491 SLG) in that time.
He is the second Gary Cooper to come to the majors, with the first one being Gary Cooper.
His time at Brigham Young University overlapped with that of Wally Joyner and Cory Snyder.
In 1991, another rookie on the Astros along with Cooper was Jeff Bagwell. The regular third baseman on the team was Ken Caminiti.
