[edit] Biographical Information

Garry Roggenburk pitched five years in the majors.

He was born in Cleveland, OH in 1940 and attended high school there. After going to the University of Dayton in 1959-62, he started in the minors in 1962 with a record of 13-4 at Erie. He was a good enough college basketball player that he was also drafted by the pros to play basketball.

He came up originally with the 1963 Twins, posting a 2.16 ERA in 36 games and getting 4 saves. He was the same age as teammate Zoilo Versalles and a year younger than fellow pitcher Jim Kaat. He missed 1964 due to surgery. In 1965, on a pennant-winning Twins team, he had an ERA of 3.43 in 12 games. The following season he was traded to the 1966 Boston Red Sox in September.

Garry started spending time in the minors again beginning in 1965. With Denver in 1965-66 he was 9-3 and then 6-3. With Toronto in 1967 he went 5-10 with a 2.60 ERA and was not up in the majors. With Louisville in 1968-69 he was in a few games each year, and went a notable 5-1 in 1969.

Also in 1969 he spent some time with the 1969 Seattle Pilots during their year in Seattle before moving to Milwaukee.

After his playing days he worked in the Boston Red Sox organization.
