Garnett Bankhead Jr.

  • Bats Right, Throws Right
  • Height 6' 1", Weight 175 lb.

Garnett Bankhead is the youngest brother of Sammy Bankhead, Dan Bankhead, Fred Bankhead and Joe Bankhead.

Bankhead began his career with the Memphis Red Sox in 1947 as a teammate of Dan's. In 1948, John Holway lists Dan as going 4-4 for Memphis but Dan was in the minors so this likely was Garnett's record, misattributed. He moved to the Homestead Grays later that year. Homestead dropped out of the Negro National League in 1949 but Garnett remained with the club. He pitched one game for the Drummondville Royals in 1953, getting no decision.

Bankhead died of a gunshot wound following an argument in 1991.
