[edit] Biographical Information

Garland Lawing was an outfielder 14 years from 1939-1954, one in the Major Leagues (1946) and 13 in the minors (1939-43;1947-1954), losing two years to the Military. He served in the United States Army for two years during World War II (1944-1945). He had cups of coffee with the Cincinnati Reds and New York Giants in 1946. Lawing won the Canadian-American League Triple Crown with the Quebec Braves in 1950, when he hit .346 with 19 homers and 141 RBI. He had 114 homeruns in the minors but never connected for one in MLB. He died at age 77 and is buried at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, North Carolina.
