In 1972-1973, the St. Louis Cardinals also fielded the GCL Red Birds in the Gulf Coast League. From 1976 until 2007 the Cardinals did not field a team in the GCL. The 2007 team finished third in the Eastern Division with a 24-30 record. Eude Brito served as the teams manager.
