Fujia Chu began his baseball career as a pitcher but was moved to the infield. He plays for the Hopestars of his native Jiangsu. He was on the Chinese roster for the 2009 World Baseball Classic. As China's starting first baseman in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, he went 1 for 9 with a steal and a run. He scored a crucial run in the win over the Taiwan national team, singling off Yueh-Ping Lin, stealing second and coming home on a hit by Fenglian Hou. Chu made a run-costing error in a loss to South Korea.

Chu played for China in the 2010 Asian Games, 2012 Asian Championship and 2012 Asia Series. In the 2013 World Baseball Classic, he was 1 for 8 with a walk and a run as China's main first baseman again. He was 1 for 14 with two walks, a hit-by-pitch and eight strikeouts in the 2015 Asian Championship, playing error-free ball at 1B.
