[edit] Biographical Information
Maguire was a minor league manager in the Northeastern League in 1933-34 with the New Bedford Whalers and the Waltham Rosebuds, who moved early in the 1934 season and became the Worcester Rosebuds. In 1937 he managed the Glace Bay Miners in the Cape Breton Colliery League. He began the 1938 season managing the Dominion Hawks in the same league, but the team disbanded July 10. Each team that Maguie managed for a full season finished first in the league standings but none won a league championship.
Maguire was the first coach of the Boston College baseball team, serving from 1946 through 1949. The team's overall record during those years was 42-19.
Maguire scouted for the Boston Red Sox from 1950 until his passing.
