- After starring as a football player at the University of Alabama, Fred Sington went on to play with the Washington Senators and Brooklyn Dodgers. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. In 1932 led two different minor leagues in HR.
- Led 1932 Southeastern League with 6 HR (league disbanded May 21, sington moved to Middle Atlantic League)
- Led 1932 Middle Atlantic League with .368 BA, 29 HR, 110 RBI, 110 R, and 12 3B
- Led 1934 International League with 147 RBI
