Fred Robinson, the brother of Wilbert Robinson, was seven years older than Wilbert and came to the majors a couple years earlier. Fred's only three games were in 1884 for the Union Association, playing second base for the 1884 Cincinnati Outlaw Reds in April.
30-year-old Sam Crane became the starting second baseman for the team that year and also managed the team the second half of the season.
Fred is the only major leaguer born in South Acton, MA. His brother was born in Bolton, MA.
