[edit] Biographical Information
Fred "Red" Bennett was a backup for Paul Waner on the 1932 Pirates and also appeared on the 1928 St. Louis Browns. He was also a minor league slugger who almost always hit well over .300.
One wonders why Bennett didn't come earlier to the majors, since he always hit at least .345 in the minors from 1924-29, and had 35 homers with Tulsa in 1928 (Joe Munson, a former major leaguer who had hit decently in the bigs, had more homers and a higher batting average that year at Tulsa).
