Outfielder Frank Layana broke in with the 1952 Wisconsin Rapids White Sox, hitting .247/~.372/.355. In '53, Frank hit .254/~.449/.414 with a team-high 10 HR for Wisconsin Rapids and tied Joe Borzellino for the Wisconsin State League lead with 14 times hit by pitch. The next year, Layana played very briefly with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox and Topeka Owls, but spent most of the year with the Madisonville Miners. With Madisonville, Frank hit .357 with 10 homers and 76 RBI in the high-offense KITTY League. In 1955, Layana had a .307 average for the Dubuque Packers and played briefly for the Superior Blues. He barely played for the 1956 Pocatello Bannocks and did not appear in '57. He finished his career in 1958 with a .278 average for the Duluth-Superior White Sox and a very limited appearance with the Eugene Emeralds.
