[edit] Biographical Information

" . . . they ask me (at celebrity golf tournaments}, "Did you play with Harmon Killebrew?" One day I had to ask Harmon if people ever approached him and asked "Did you play with Frank Kostro?" - Frank Kostro

Frank Kostro was a back-up infielder/outfielder for seven seasons in the majors during the 1960's. Most of his at-bats were with the Minnesota Twins.

He is one of three major leaguers to have been born in Windber, PA.

Kostro was signed by the Detroit Tigers in 1956 and came up to the majors in 1962 to play third base with the Tigers. He was traded in mid-1963 to the Angels, and then in mid-1964 to the Twins. Over time, the Twins used him more in the outfield than in the infield.

In Kostro's last season in the majors, he got into a couple games for the 1969 Twins who won the division under manager Billy Martin.

He also played for Hankyu in Japan.

As of the early 2000's, he was in the insurance business in Colorado.
