Frank Hansford was handed the ball for one game in June, 1898. The 1898 Bridegrooms finished the season 54-91 under three managers, and none of the starting rotation had winning seasons, so clearly they were looking for all the help they could get.
Hansford pitched 7 innings with an ERA of 3.86, slightly better than the team ERA.
