Frank Carswell played basketball in the NBL, a predecessor of the NBA.

Carswell led the 1949 Big State League with 229 hits and 145 RBI. In 1950, he led the Big State with 51 2B and a .400 BA. In 1952, he missed the triple crown in the International League by 12 RBI, leading the league with 30 HR and a .344 Avg.

When he came to the majors as a 33-year-old rookie, he posted a .389 on-base percentage in his 15 at-bats.
