[edit] Biographical Information

Frank Mahar was an amateur player from the Belmont club in Malden, MA who was given a chance to play major league baseball in 1902. In warm-ups before the game, a fly ball hit the bleachers and caromed back to the field, hitting Mahar in the face. He started the game, but had to leave after the top of the first inning to go to the hospital.

He never played in the minors. After his major league stint, he went into real estate and had eight children.

For years baseball historians confused him with Tom Maher, who played briefly on the same team.
