Brother of Al Lary.
One of Detroit's most durable, reliable and most popular pitchers from the middle '50s and into the middle '60s, Frank "Taters" Lary, along with Paul Foytack, Billy Hoeft and Jim Bunning, was part of a formidable Tiger pitching rotation in the the mid to late '50s.
Lary spent 11 years with the Tigers, until he tearfully left after being sold to the Mets in 1964. He was known as "The Yankee Killer" because of his rare ability to beat the Yankees on a fairly consistently basis.
He resides in his home state of Alabama, having been in the car sales business for many years.
