Frank Funk is best remembered for his 1961 season with the Cleveland Indians, when he won 11 games, lost 11 games, and had 11 saves. He pitched four years in the big leagues, and his ERA was well below the league ERA each year. All his appearances were as a reliever.

Even though his 1960-62 Cleveland Indians teams finished under .500 each year, Funk was at or above .500 each year.

Funk later became a minor league manager and major league coach. He managed the Decatur Commodores from 1969 to 1971 and the Fresno Giants in 1972 and 1973. He was a San Francisco Giants coach in 1976 and spent two stints on the Seattle Mariners big league staff, from 1980 to 1981 and again in 1983 and 1984. After serving as skipper of the Eugene Emeralds in 1985 and the Omaha Royals in 1986, he was a Kansas City Royals coach from 1988 to 1990. After leaving the Royals, he managed the Cedar Rapids Reds in 1991. Funk spent three years as the Colorado Rockies Pitching Coach , from 1996 to 1998.
