[edit] Biographical Information
Frank Connaughton played in the majors in 1894, 1896 and 1906.
Connaughton was ill with malaria late in 1898, possibly the reason he missed the 1899 season. He died when struck by an automobile in 1942.
He managed in the minors at Haverhill, Bangor and New Bedford. He is mentioned as a manager in the book Spitting on Diamonds: A Spitball Pitcher's Journey to the Major Leagues.
The June 25, 1904 issue of Sporting Life discusses his signing with Haverhill to play, the interest Utica had in him, and that Hamilton had not given him his release.
Connaughton played from at least 1891 to 1913. Most of his career was spent in the Northeast although he also played on occasion for teams outside the region such as Kansas City.
