[edit] Biographical Information

Frank Barberich pitched in only 4 games in the major leagues, but appeared for both of the Boston teams, the 1907 Boston Doves and the 1910 Boston Red Sox.

The Doves bought him from the Lawrence team near the end of August 1907, and he made his debut on September 17. In 12 1/3 innings, he gave up 19 hits and 5 walks. The next spring, on March 27, 1908, he was released.

Rube Dessau made his debut five days after Barberich did for the Doves in 1907, and also pitched in 2 games that year for the Doves. Dessau gave up 13 hits and 10 walks in 13 1/3 innings. Like Barberich, Dessau would disappear from the majors in 1908 and 1909, and like Barberich, Dessau would come back with a different team in 1910 and finish his major league career that year.

Barberich appeared for 2 more games with the Red Sox in 1910, pitching 5 innings and giving up 7 hits and 2 walks. Like Barberich, Chris Mahoney would appear in 2 games with the 1910 Boston Red Sox and end his career with them.

In the minors he won 20+ games in both 1908 and 1909.

"Boston has also secured another very likely man in Frank Barberich, the splendid pitcher of the Lawrence Club, who has been a mainstay of that club for two seasons past. Barberich hails from the Bronx, is cool, has a good head and good curves." - Sporting Life, Aug. 31, 1907
"Frank Barberich seems to have returned to his stride with the Montreal Club, and is twirling the brand of ball which made him a winner with the Providence team in 1909." - Sporting Life, June 24, 1911
