 Biographical information
Peguero was signed by scout Pablo Peguero (no relation) for the Giants at age 17. He began his professional career in 2006, playing for the DSL Giants, hitting .275/.307/.429 with four home runs and 16 RBI in 56 games. He played for the DSL Giants in 2007 as well, hitting .294/.341/.375 with 25 stolen bases in 30 tries and 51 runs in 69 games.
In 2008, Peguero played for two teams - the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes and Augusta Greenjackets. That season, he hit a combined .285 with four home runs, 43 RBI, 8 triples and 25 stolen bases in 100 games. He was only caught stealing four times.
He spent 2009 with the Volcanoes and Greenjackets, hitting .353/.373/.443 with one home run, 46 RBI and 22 stolen bases in 27 attempts in 75 games. He was added to the Giants' 40-man roster after the season, but it would take him almost three more full seasons to reach the big leagues. In 2010, he played for the San Jose Giants of the California League, hitting .329 in 122 games. He had 16 triples among his 45 extra-base hits and made the circuit's post-season All-Star team after playing in the 2010 Futures Game in mid-year. In 2011, in spite of his success, he was set back by off-season knee surgery an went back to San Jose when he returned to action in June, hitting .324 in 16 games to earn a ticket to the AA Richmond Flying Squirrels. He proceeded to hit .309 in 71 games in the Eastern League and in 2012 began the season in AAA, with the Fresno Grizzlies. He hit .272 in 105 games, but with a poor on-base percentage of only ..297. However, he did hit 20 doubles, 10 triples and 5 homers and earned a call up to The Show in late August.
In his big league debut on August 25, 2012, Peguero was 0 for 2 with a strikeout as the Giants' starting left-fielder in a loss to the Atlanta Braves. He was removed for pinch-hitter Gregor Blanco, who hit a two-run double in his spot in the 7th inning.
