Francis Abercrombie pitched 4 seasons in the minor leagues from 1939 to 1942.
In 1939, Abercrombie posted a 15-13 record for the Florida State League St. Augustine Saints with a 2.55 earned run average in 254 innings pitched. At the plate, he hit .262 with 3 doubles and a triple.
He spent the next three seasons with the Jacksonville Tars in the South Atlantic League. After a 15-11 season in 1940, Abercrombie's stats fell considerably posting a 3-7 record for Jacksonville over 1941 and 1942. During his final campaign, Jacksonville was an affiliate of the New York Giants.
Abercrombie finished up his baseball career with the 1942 Jackson Senators in the Southeastern League. In 11 games, Francis had a 5.13 earned run average and a 2-6 record.
