Frédéric Hanvi began his minor league career in 2008.
In 2007, Hanvi hit .220/.336/.341 for the Tigers de Toulouse in Division Élite. In the European Junior Championship, he batted .133/.286/.200 for France. He signed that year with the Minnesota Twins. The catcher made his pro debut on August 26 for the GCL Twins. He was 1 for 2 with a run against the GCL Red Sox that day. He did not play any more that year. Hanvi hit much better for Toulouse in 2008, spending most of his season in France, hitting .333/.527/.530 with 22 runs and 16 RBI in 19 games, almost as good as the team's veteran star, Jamel Boutagra. He threw out 9 of 29 attempted base-stealers.
In 2009, he hit only .173/.306/.192 in 19 games for the GCL Twins, throwing out 2 of 18 potential base thieves.
